Bruising encounter for U13 Sharks

On Saturday Mossman had a great day of footy at their local grounds for the second last time of the season. Despite the drizzly rain a good crowd came to watch the youngsters play.

UNDER 7

The Under 7s took on Suburbs on the back field and showed their talent in an 11 tries to 6 win in their round robin.

Halle Jenkins scored her first try of the season and was ably backed up by try scorers Wyatt Lourigan (6 tries), Jack Hatfield (2) and Beau Paulke (2).

Tackling machines on the day were Matthias Jackonia with 12, Jesse Frisina (12), Saxon Vizard (12) and Saxton Ferris (11).  Man of the Match went to Halle for scoring her first try, crossing the line in the corner and catching the Suburbs' defence napping.

Coaches award went to EJ Bowen for 100% effort at training.  Well done.

UNDER 8

The Under 8s took on Suburbs in another great display of football talent on Saturday, taking down Suburbs 20-8.

Kye Durie was again fearless in his defence, clocking up another 23 tackles, with teammate Brodie Francis also proving hard to push through.  Speed demon Tyson Osborne broke the line twice for 2 tries, with Khalen Marr, Malachi Jakonia and Kye also scoring.

Jamie Borzi's new found confidence and huge improvement saw him awarded this week's Man of the Match, with Khalen's tackling technique earning him this week's Coaches Award.

UNDER 11

The Under 11s kept their undefeated run going to nine games with a 36-6 win against a courageous undermanned Edmonton Lightning.

The win was again built on rock solid defence and the boys, now with growing confidence in the new players, taking their training drills out onto the field.

Man of the match performance was from tough as nails Tom Walker and after being injured in Townsville was back to his best. Payton Adams who is organising his side on the field is improving with every game and special mention to Billy Kadwell who was also injured in Townsville but was back to his barnstorming best and has now put offloading into his game.

Lachlan Mous’s hard running was outstanding and Lamar Enoch's last line of defence was strong where he shut down a lot of attack.

Next week Sharkies have a top of the table clash against the power of Brothers Blue which will be the real test.

UNDER 12

A home game for Under 12s saw them beat Redlynch 36 to nil.  A great effort from all the boys.

Tries were scored by Austin Tahley (2), Cody Port (3) Xavian (1) Conversions Trazane Cobb, Callum Mather, Cody Port, Zach Osborne, Campbell Alan and Tom Mischke.

Campbell Alan and Lennox Schonenberger were again superstars in defence.

UNDER 13

The Under 13s played a bruising encounter with second placed Edmonton Storm on the weekend in a game that went down to the final siren.

The boys played some very entertaining team footy and defended the house down and were looking like they were going to sneak home with a win.

But a little lack of discipline in the final stages of the game helped the Storm get the ball back and crash over for a try with 20 seconds left on the clock to push the final score out to 20 points to 18 win to Storm.

Man of the match was Matty Chesterfield and Players' Player was Wayne Oui.

Win big in the region's Best Photo Competition.
