"Wicked" local Mum on Wife Swap

"What have you got me into now?" That was the reaction of Mick Liggins on hearing the news his wife, Cindy, had signed up for the TV show Wife Swap Australia.

The show, which also has UK and US versions, sees polar opposite wifes swapping places with their counterpart to experience their way of life.

Cindy, an avid watcher of the show, said when she heard the show was coming to Australia she was quick to sign up.

"I love it, I watch it all the time. It's the first thing I look for, it makes me feel like a better mother.

"All my friends and family would say 'you'd be wicked on that show' and I'd say if it ever came to Australia I'd do it.

"I filled out an application and just forgot about it. They called me three months later and I thought it was a mate playing a trick on me.

"I forgot to tell Mick that I applied for it until I got the phone call. I had to say 'what do you think about going on Wife Swap?' and he said it would be stupid and I said they're coming up to do an audition tape. He said 'What have you got me into now?'"

Cindy left for an undisclosed location in Victoria in November for filming and to meet the family (people with strong religious beliefs - beliefs Cindy doesn't share), she'd be spending a week living with.

Meanwhile her counterpart came to live in Port Douglas with Mick and daughters Bianca (13) and Leilani (9).

"It's about experiencing how different people live, and I think that's enough time to experience it," Cindy said.

"Me and my brothers and sisters, we can't even get through one day together, so you wear out your welcome.

"To be in that environment it's just going to automatically happen (conflict), it's not about promoting it at all.

"We all survived. If anything I think Bianca being a teenager will be laying low, I might have to as well. I've already changed my hairdo."

The show airs on Austar's Lifestyle You channel on Monday's at 8.30pm while the Liggin's family episode will be aired in March.
