Water water everywhere

We may not have experienced the unrelenting rains of the 2011 wet season, but if you drove through town on Saturday morning you would have been forgiven for thinking the rains hadn't stopped.

Storm water drains couldn't keep up with the deluge with the intersection at Grant and Warner Streets inundated.

In 24 hours from 9am Friday, the Bureau of Meteorology recorded 52mm of rain at Port Douglas, while Mossman South received 61mm in the 24 hours from 9am Saturday.

Water quickly receded as sunny skies returned in the afternoon in a topsy-turvey weekend of weather.
