Rain no problem for JC’s golfing prowess

It was another interrupted week of golf at Mossman Golf Club with the weather again causing havoc.

But John Carney found his way through the rain on Tuesday, scoring 38 points to win ahead of Cameron Walton after a count back. Brett Jurie won nearest the pin on 6 and 10, Ian Steley on 8, Jock O’Kane on 13 and Larry Smith on 17.


Les Donehue won the Wednesday nine hole competition with 20 points around the composite course. Matty Smith was second with 19 points after a count back. Brett Jurie won nearest the pin Rain no problem for JC’s golfing prowess.


Les on 8 and Liam Gibson won 10.


Forty-eight players turned up on Australia Day for a Four Ball Ambrose that was restricted to nine holes after a late afternoon downpour cancelled play.  Ken Deuble, Art Howard, Brett Jurie and Les Donehue won the day ahead of Glenda Christensen, Bette Wells, Patti and Des Graham. Geoff Parmenter and John Cameron won nearest the pins for the men while Shona Barbour and Glenda collected the ladies.


Russel Hooker was the best of the men on Saturday winning with 43 points ahead of Mick Lancaster on 40 points.  Des Graham was third with 39 points. Brett Jurie won nearest the pin on 8 and Art Howard won 17.


Shona Barbour won the ladies Saturday competition with 31 points. Glenda Christensen was second with 30 points. Shona also won nearest the pin on 8.
