Pink days numbered?

The Sheraton Mirage's famous pink hue may have its days numbered as the resort undertakes a major refurbishment.

The colour, made famous by Pixie Skase whose husband was the creator of Sheraton Mirage in the 1980's, is just one of the changes due to occur as part of a larger overhaul.

"One of the wings we've started to work on in terms of mock-up rooms and we're trying colours because we will be changing colours on the outside as well," said Director of Sales and Marketing, Elena Fragasso.

"Colour scheme, furniture, anything we need to change, once that's all sorted we'll have a better understanding of the dates we should go with (to complete the refurbishment)."

A budget figure for the refurbishment was not at hand, however, Ms Fragrasso said the size of the resort and its standing as a key brand for Starwood means the investment will be significant.

"The amount of development that's happened around the Sheraton brand has been phenomenal worldwide. I'm very confident to say the refurb will happen (and) we won't be cutting any corners let's put it that way."
