Big week in Mossman Golf

Perfect tropical conditions with rain mostly late in the day allowed players to enjoy their golf, and Mossman Golf Course is in great condition.

Tuesday’s field of 44 contested a stableford event with the winner Russell Watkins on 42 points. Second was Wayne Soxsmith 41, and third Russell Hooker with 38 on a countback to Ken Deuble. 

Nearest the pins were Ian Steley on 6, Simon (hat trick) Nelson 8, 10 and 17, and Ralf Middel on 17.

The 9 hole stableford Wednesday Competition was won by Greg Walker, with Barry Rouse second on a countback to Adam Ferguson. Nearest the pins Brett Jurie on 13 and John Cameron on 17.

18 Ladies contested Thursday’s stableford event which was won by Katie Brims 34 points on a countback to Lucy Giles. Third was Treveen Page 33, with Narelle Johnson finished fourth. 

Nearest the pins Shirley Carney on 6, Bev Cowe on 8 and Narelle on 10.

Great to see a field of 56 players in the mens' stableford event.  Division 1 winner was president Ian Prewett with 41 points, and second went to Ralf Middel on 37.

Division 2 winner was John Ziegler on 39 points, and second Phil Dunnicliffe on 37.  Nearest the pins were Des Graham on 6, Bill Allison on 8, Dennis Blake on 10, Mick Lanaster on 13 and B Jurie on 17.

The ladies stableford event was won by Glenda Christensen with 41 points, while Tracey Benham was second on 35, third was Shirley Carney on 33, and fourth came Judy McCormack.  Nearest the pins Tracey on 8 and 10, Glenda on 17.

A number of social players enjoyed Sunday on the course with the competition stableford event won by Norm Lockwood with 39 points. Second came Ranald Edwards on 34 on a countback to Erwin Heimann. 

Nearest the pins Kerri-Lyn Williams on 6 and 8.

The club invites ladies of any age to come along and learn to play Golf. A clinic is being held at 9am on Monday 12 March so book on 4098 2089.

Visitors can take advantage of discounted green fees of $25 for 18 holes.  For an additional cost, motorised buggies are also available to take the pressure off in the heat.
