All the action from Mossman Golf

The Mossman Golf course is in great condition after a clean up by volunteers, removing the debris from Friday night’s exceptionally strong winds. 

Tuesday’s very warm conditions saw 37 players on the full course. This event was won by Cameron Walton with 40 points, second came John Cameron 37 and third was Mal McKellar 36. 

Nearest the pins were Rob Cooke on 6, Ralf Middel on 8, Geoff Parmenter on 10, Simon Nelson on 13 and Brett Jurie on 17.

Brett Jurie won the Wednesday nine hole competition with veteran Bob Laybutt in second, and Ken Deuble third.  John Cameron won nearest the pin on 10, Shona Barbour on 13 and Greg Walker on 17.

Mainly calm conditions on Thursday saw 16 Ladies compete for the Thursday Monthly Medal.  The winner was Shona Barbour one shot ahead of Wendy Mead, while Helen Gabour took out third on a countback to Trish Landy. 

Nearest the pins went to Wendy Mead on 6, Bette Wells on 8, Glenda Christensen on 10 and Helen Gabour on 13.  The putting comp was won by Trish Landy on a countback to Lucy Giles.

Considering the seriously windy conditions on Saturday morning, it was great to see a field of 58 players competing for the Mens Monthly Medal which was won by David Budge (nett 68) on a countback to Ben Hill. 

In the Grades the A Grade gross winner was Brett Jurie 79, B Grade gross winner was John Deuble 87, and C Grade gross winner Jeff Bochow 92. Nett winners were A Grade Elijah Boon, B Grade Broz Jurie, and C Grade Russell Hooker.  

Nearest the pins went to John Deuble on 6, Steve Warden on 8, John Ziegler on 10, Frank Wohlhuter on 13 and David Budge on 17.

The Ladies Monthly Medal was won by Trish Landy (nett 75) with runner up Shona Barbour on nett 77.  Nearest the pins Landy on 6, Yvonne Addison (great shot to 73cm) on 8, Judy McCormack on 10, and Lyn Heimann on 13.  Judy also won the putting competition.

Sunday’s event saw Russell Hooker taking the honours from John Cameron.  Wayne Baxter took the prize for nearest the pin on 10, Art Howard on 6 and John Cameron on 8.

Visitors are welcome every day, with green fees of $25 for 18 holes currently applying.
