Rider airlifted after highway crash
A motorbike ran into the back of a stationary truck at road works near Wangetti yesterday morning, blocking traffic on the busy Captain Cook Highway.
The rider was airlifted to Cairns Base Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, and the Cairns Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the accident.
Port Douglas Police Officer-in-charge Sergeant Damian Meadows said the accident should come as a warning to all highway motorists.
"It's a timely reminder for motorists to take care whilst slope stabilisation works are completed along the highway until early 2013," he said.
