Middel, Brims star at Mossman

The fine weather continues to provide plenty of run on the fairways at Mossman Golf Club.


Last Tuesday’s Canadian Foursomes event was won by John Carney and George Page with nett 63 ½ ahead of Mal McKellar and Tano Caltabiano with 64 and John Cameron and Ian Johnson with nett 64 ½.

Nearest the pins were on 6 Mal Phillips, 8 Ian Steley, 10 Michael Gabour, 13 Barry Brims and 17 Ralf Middel.

The winner of last Wednesday’s nine hole event was Bob Tyrrell with 23 points and runner-up Fred Oakes with 21 points. Nearest the pin was Sam Brischetto on 6 within 106cm.

Thursday’s Ladies Lucy Giles Monthly Medal won by Gayle Healey with nett 71 on a count-back to Lyn Heimann and Fran Coveny in third place. Nearest the pins were on 6 Lyn, 8 Fran, 10 Gayle, 13 Trish Landy and 17 Glenda Christensen.

The winner of the Friday Frolic was Jeff Murray with 21 points for 9 holes, ahead of John Reason with 19 points.

On Saturday the players competed for the Medal of Medals with victory going to Ralf Middel.  The Stroke event was won by Dennis Blake with nett 67 ahead of Dan Coulthard with 68 nett on a count-back to Elijah Boon.

Nearest the pins were on 6 Elijah, 8 Ian Steley (great shot to 33cm) 10 and 13 Jeff Murray and Adrian Bannerman on 17.

The Ladies Medal of Medals was won by Katie Brims.  The Stroke event was won by Lyn Heimann with nett 71 ahead of Katie with nett 72.  The putting competition was won by Christie Bouwkamp.

Nearest the pins were on 6 and 13 Shona Barbour, Katie on 8 and Pris Freeman on 17.

Thanks go to the members who attended the Working Bee on Sunday morning.  The Stableford event was won by John Cameron with 39 points ahead of Art Howard. Nearest the pins were on 6 Art and No 13 John.

The Ladies will enjoy their End of Year lunch on 13 December, with shot-gun start at 8.30am. The Club's Presentation Day will be held on Saturday 15 December.
