Lucy's ace in the hole

Mossman Golf Club players are enjoying the run on the fairways and the greens are in tip-top shape.


The course was in great condition for last Tuesday’s Monthly Medal sponsored by John Cameron and Shona Barbour.  The winner was Mal Phillips with nett 68, ahead of Matt Gray 72 and Ian Steley 73 on a count-back to several players.

Nearest the pins were James Browne on 6, Graham Cook on 8, Simon Nelson on 10, Wayne Dowell on 13 and Greg Walker on 17.

The winner of last Wednesday’s nine hole event was Ed Sant with 23 points and runner-up Rod Donovan 22 points. Nearest the pins were Fred Oakes on 10.

Thursday’s Ladies Lucy Giles Medal of Medals was won by Lucy Giles. The Stroke competition was won by Treveen Page with 74 nett ahead of Lucy 75 nett on a count-back to Fran Coveny and Cheryl Revell.

The putting competition was won by Kerri-Lynn Williams and nearest the pins were Bev Cowe on 6, Cheryl on 8 and Treveen on 13.

The winner of the Friday Frolic was James Doolah with 24 points for 9 holes, ahead of Greg Walker on 23 points.

Perfect weather conditions on Saturday saw Brett Jurie win with 42 stableford points ahead of Norm Lockwood with 40 points and Rick Weimar with 39. Nearest the pins were Art Howard on 6, Dennis Blake on 8, Broz Jurie on 10, Graham Cook on 13 and Jeff Murray on 17.

The Ladies winner was Glenda Christensen with 37 ahead of Lyn Semmens with 36 points on a count-back to Trish Landy. Nearest the pins were Bev Cowe on 8, Christie Bouwkamp on 10 and Yvonne Bochow on 13.

The highlight of the week saw Lucy Giles ace the 135m par 3 6th hole (her second hole in one) and also take the winners voucher on Sunday with 40 points. Second place was Gert de Wilde with 39 points.

Nearest the pins were Lucy on 6, Gert on 8, Ben Hill on 10 and Kerri-Lynn Williams on 13.

The Ladies have a shotgun start 8.30am on Thursday 13 December followed by lunch.

On Saturday 15 December all members are invited to the Special General Meeting at 11.30am, and then a four ball Ambrose event at 12.30 shotgun start. The Club’s presentation of Annual Trophies will follow with a BBQ.
