Hundreds flock to Circus extravaganza
The Mossman & Districts Gymnastics Club put on an amazing spectacle last Friday night, drawing a crowd of over 300 people.
The audience was dazzled by the circus-style performance, complete with clowns, acrobats, trapeze artists, aspiring magicians and even a guest appearance from Santa.
Thanks to the popular Acro & Tumbling classes held this year, many of our local kids showed they were capable of wowing a crowd with their airborne flips and death- defying somersaults.
It was evident that the club is really making a difference to our local kids by teaching skills in a safe and professional environment, encouraging confidence and mastery.
The lucky winner of the club’s Hamilton Island raffle was Ann Dollard, with the incentive prize (an iPod Shuffle) for selling the most ticket books going to Allison Baird.
Head coach, Sonja, wishes to thank all those who contributed to the raffle, helping to support the club in raising a total of $2,628 for their building venture.
Sadly, the club had to farewell popular locals Kevin Carrington, Alana Ives, Anysha Rankin and Bridget Osterman-Rowen, who have been part of the club for many years both as students and coaches.
They will now be moving on to new adventures in the coming year.
The club is now looking for a new senior coach for 2013. Pease contact Sonja on 0417 702 534 if interested.
For those wishing to enrol with the club next year, Sign On Day will be held on 2 February, 2013 at the Mossman Indoor Sports Centre between 9am and 11am.
The club is registered with the Queensland Government’s “Get Started” initiative, which will provide financial assistance in the form of vouchers to help meet the costs of membership fees.
