The second Surf Life Saving carnival of the season was held at Four Mile Beach on the weekend.  The blustery conditions proved problematic for some, yet a blessing to others.

Saturday will long be remembered for the events that unfolded while Sunday couldn’t have been better.

Port’s contingent of 55 competitors generated impressive results finishing third overall behind Ellis Beach SLSC in second place and Cairns SLSC in first place. Etty Bay and Mission Beach Clubs finished fourth and fifth respectively.

MASTERS

Masters competitors were undeterred by the swell with Kelly McNamara showing her metal finishing first in all her events.

Steve Pollard had similar success with placing first in three events including the ironman and two seconds. Port’s contingent were spectacular in board races with Nikki Innes, Grant Knight, Col Cameron, Sara McLeod and Brian Markham all claiming first place in their respective age groups.

The next carnival of the season is a Masters only carnival at Palm Cove in just two weeks’ time.
