Port Douglas Crocs U18s into Grand Final

A good team effort is the best way to describe the Under 18 Crocs game that has won them the right to play the powerful North Cairns side in this year's Grand Final.

In a do or die game it was the Cairns Centrals team that got off to a flyer. While the back six did a Stella job to repel the forward movements, opposition scoring was inevitable.

Cairns Centrals took a near four goal lead into the 2nd quarter.  This didn't faze the Crocs as they regrouped at quarter time and came out hard and disciplined in the second.

Good run off the back flank started the resurgence. Kieren Nyko, Jack Lowe and Brett McKeown where the main "culprits".  Co Captains Kerrod (Bully) Andrews and Tom Keygan put on a inspirational display and led from the front to show their team what was needed to win a game of footy, and their team mates lifted around them and going into the long break only 2 points down.

The midfield really stepped up in the third with Jordan O'Gorman taking on the majority of the ruck work, and it worked.  With the on-ballers getting first use of the ball we where able to feed the forwards more opportunities and they didn't disappoint.  Rodney Tiparui, Charlie Williams and Michael Pigeon were fantastic in the air with Zac Stewart and Alex Forbes at ground level, the Centrals had no answers.  Pigeon even having time to "steal" a few goals off his teammates.

While the Crocs controlled the last quarter there where a few nervous moments for the coach as Centrals got within four points on  this coming Wednesday night (29th Aug) at Cazaly's.  Well done to the boys and all the best for "the last game of the year".
