Mill rebounds after slow start

A delayed start to crushing at Mackay Sugar's Mossman Mill has meant production is behind schedule, but latest crushing figures show the mill has rebounded strongly.

More than 33,000 tonnes were crushed during week seven of the season, ahead of budget by around 700 tonnes.

According to a statement from Mackay Sugar "...the factory went on to record best results in throughput and reliability."

The mill has now crushed 160,300 tonnes this season, 40,000 tonnes less than expected, however the company is confident of meeting its 540,000 tonne estimate.

"Operationally, the mill is running very well with the factory making bagasse easily while on export."
