Jurie wins Monthly Medal

Tuesday's field of 44 players competed in a Stableford event which was won by Terry Plunkett with 41 points.  Second place was taken out by Laurie Prosser with 39 points and third Rick Herschell one shot back on a count-back to Jack Nelson.

Nearest the pins were Wayne Dowell on 6, Geoff Parmenter on 8, Terry on 10, Mal Phillips on 13 and John White on 17.

The winner of Wednesday’s nine hole event was Ron Smith with 22 points and second place was R. Drew with 21 points on a count-back to Bob Hoskins and Bob Laybutt. Nearest the pins were Bob Laybutt on 10, J. Hawes on 13 and Ron on 17.

Thursday’s Ladies Lucy Giles Monthly Medal was won by Katie Brims with nett 71 on a count-back to Kerri-Lynn Williams and Gayle Healey. Narelle Johnson took out the putting competition. Nearest the pins were Narelle Johnson on 6, Trish Landy on 8 and Katie on 13.

The new special Friday Frolic was enjoyed by plenty of social players.  For players with handicaps, the competition was won by Des Graham with 22 points on a count-back to Patti Graham.

Saturday’s Port Douglas Pavillions Monthly Medal was won by Brett Jurie with a nett 66.  Visitor Brendan Woods with a nett 65 took the voucher.

Saturday’s Combined Clubs Monthly Medal was won by Carly Edwards with a nett 68, second place Kim Edwards 70 and third place Trish Landy 72.  Kim Edwards also won the putting competition.

Nearest the pins were Christie Bouwkamp on 6, Trish on 8, Bev Cowe on 10 and 13.

Mossman hosted FNQ District Ladies Golf Association players from Atherton, Mareeba, Cairns, Half Moon Bay, Gordonvale and Paradise Palms and all the players enjoyed their matchplay in magnificent weather conditions.

The Sunday stableford event was won by Julie Hooker with 39 points one shot ahead of Barry Brims.

Members and non-members are invited to enjoy the Mossman Lions Club Charity Golf Day on Sunday 12 August at the Mossman Golf Club. The cost is $30 per player which includes a Gourmet BBQ following the 4 Ball Elimination Ambrose event.
