Horse North Dressage everything to play for
The Julatten based Horse North Dressage Team have continued their successful season with great results in Townsville and Mareeba.
Over the weekend of the 4th and 5th August at the NQEG Championships in Townsville, Angela Sausman and her gelding Spritz came second on both days in the Official Elementary section to take the Reserve championship for the class.
Angela said, “The Sunday, in particular, was difficult as I had tripped badly that morning and had badly bruised ribs and restricted movement; it just shows how super Spritz is – he really looked after me.”
Angela’s other horse, APH Swish competed in the Official Preliminary class and placed well on both days. Angela said, “Swish has had a really great season; the comments he is now getting from the judges suggest that he is a future champion as he grows and develops his paces, he certainly enjoys his work.”
Then over this last weekend, (11th and 12th), the Horse North Dressage Team were out again on their “home” ground in Mareeba at the ATDDEA Championships.
Spritz and Swish continued to look after Angela who was still nursing her sore ribs but was determined to ride. Spritz achieved a personal best for the more complicated Elementary 3D test on the Sunday. Angela reported, “Unfortunately the scores on the Saturday were not up to our usual standard due to me being below par, so we missed out on the Championship, but I’m really pleased with our progress on the Sunday.”
She continued: “We have one more championship in the far north this season so we have everything still to play for.”
Next weekend the Horse North Dressage team will be in Townsville for a further round of tuition from the Queensland State dressage Coach, Carlos De Cleermaecker.
