Hayes quits TQ

The winds of change are blowing through Tourism Queensland with a new chairman, Stephen Gregg taking his position at the head of the board, and now the departure CEO Anthony Hayes.

Mr Hayes made public his decision to leave after five years in the position.

"It happens to everyone at some stage, and this feels like the right time for me now. I have resigned and today (Friday 10 August) is my last day at Tourism Queensland," Mr Hayes said.

"Someone very wise once told me that being TQ CEO was the best job in the world, but you should only do it until that one morning when you wake up and realise you have reached the end of your time.  That time has come for me now.

"Now it is time for someone new to take the reins and take it (TQ) to another place. We have a new Chairman and a strong new board to replace our previous fantastic board, and soon there will be a new CEO to put all the pieces of the puzzle together in a new way."

Leanne Coddington has been appointed Acting CEO until the board undertakes a formal recruitment process.
