Gymnasts scoop awards at local event
The Mossman & District Gymnastics Club held their annual Circuit Challenge and Gold Silver Bronze competition recently at the Mossman Indoor Sports Centre.
78 boy and girl gymnasts attended the all-day event, supported by an enthusiastic team of coaches, gym committee, volunteers and parents who all contributed to making the day a huge success.
“It was great to see so many happy gymnasts and happy parents too," Club secretary Sharon Miller said. "Everyone had a great time and it was good to see so much support at our club’s largest event and fundraiser for the year.”

The Circuit Challenge in the morning proved to be a massive hit. Kids progressed through a variety of stations starting with the various apparatus in the gymnasium and spreading out to an obstacle course of interesting activities in the main floor area of the sports centre, with 40 different skills to be experienced altogether.
Each participant received a certificate, club water bottle and wallet for their efforts. The volunteer gymnasts who guided them through the stations also received a surprise certificate and printed club t-shirt.
After a succulent sausage sizzle to feed the hungry masses, a second contingent of gymnasts were put through their paces as the Gold Silver Bronze competition kicked off in the afternoon.
It was great to be able to host this much-needed competition, as our neighbouring clubs at Mareeba and Atherton have not been able to host their usual Invitational events this year.
Having this competition provided valuable experience for our local gymnasts. All participants were awarded either a gold, silver or bronze certificate according to their overall score, along with a club logo gym bag and wallet.
Mossman Gymnastics is now preparing for an impressive display at the Julatten Spring Fair in September as well as the Macca Team Challenge competition at Barron Valley Gymnastics Club.
The club accepts new members at any time. For new enrolments contact Sonja on 0407 702 534, email enquiries to info@mossmangymnatics.com, or visit their website at www.mossmangymnastics.com.
