Finals time for U11 Sharks

UNDER 9

The Mossman Under 9s team played exceptionally well this weekend.  Playing with a full team showed how well everyone can do and how they can back each other up.

We played two games, the first against Ivanhoes which ended in a draw which was an outstanding result for Mossman.  Everyone played well with Man of the Match honours going to Kane Gray.

In the second game we played Redlynch which also ended in a draw.  Kyjuan Delevance played his best game of the year along with Man of the Match recipient Matty Graves Bochow who played his heart out.

I couldn’t split the other players for their awards so there might be a special treat for everyone at their next training session.

UNDER 10

Under 10s played a tough game against the top team, Ivanhoes.  Playing with all their heart and wit only ten players they did the Mossman Sharks proud.

Tries were scored by Zac Jenkins, Rayden Walker and Bronson Ryan.  Mason Young played hard in the middle with Blair Clue, Samual Savage and Michael Tayley running out wide.

Connor Berzinski, Ethan Chesterfield and Matthew Bocho tackled their hearts out to keep the Sharks in the game but it wasn’t enough to hold Ivanhoes out.

Man Of The Match went to Samuel Savage for his strong runs down the wing. A special thanks to the Under 9 boys for helping out – we couldn’t do it without you.

UNDER 11

The Under 11s finished off the season with a gutsy 24-12 win against rivals Brothers and backed that up later on in the day with a 26-12 win over a brave Edmonton lightning.

Man of the Match from both games was hard hitting Zeklyn Grogan Ryan who has controlled his side of the field solidly all year and Lamar Enoch who gives it everything every week for the team, his confidence in running and tackling has improved immensely.

Man of the Match for Edmonton game Jai Hauser, a first year Sharky whose confidence improves every time he takes the field.  Special mention to Pacman and Bronson Jnr who filled in to make up a side, both boys played really well especially in defence taking on a lot bigger boys.

Next week the local Sharkies take on Brothers in a growing rivalry for a grand final berth so players would love to see a lot of local support to cheer on the side as they try to achieve the team goal of a place in the grand final.

UNDER 15

The Under 15 Sharks played their final game for the season last Saturday putting up a good fight against the second placed Kangaroos.

Roos scored the first two tries of the match jumping to a 10-0 lead but the Sharks hit back with two tries of their own with Quinlyn Cannon crossing twice off the back of some great teamwork making the score 12-10 to the Sharks.

Mossman had the upper hand and Jake Todd and Dicky Jackson both managed to get over the try line but unfortunately failed to ground the ball cleanly. The Roos then took advantage their opportunity and scored two more tries making the score 18-12 at halftime.

The Sharks went into the second half determined to finish the year with a win throwing everything they had at Roos, and when Jaggar Ablett crashed through the defence and scored under the posts the Sharks had the Roos on the hop.

Unfortunately the boys turned over possession on three or four occasions in the last 15 minutes of the game and it was enough for the Roos' speedy backline to run away with the game and the eventual score was 40-24 to Kangaroos.

The highlight of the game was when the crafty Patrick Lanskey threw a gem of ball from dummy half picking up Taheega Savage down the short side to score his first ever try much to the delight of whole team and coaching staff, well done Taheega.

Jake Pendlebury, Jaggar Ablett and Curtis Hober all played strongly in the forwards. Haydon D,Adonna lead the team perfectly at halfback and Quinlyn Cannon was virtually unstoppable again. Man of the match went Taheega Savage for his great effort on the day.

It has been a fantastic year for these young men and they have done their club proud. The boys have been competitive all year and should be proud of their effort both playing the game and at training. WELL DONE BOYS AND THANK YOU ALL!

The Mossman Junior Sharks wishes all our semi-finalists the best of luck next week and we hope the community will cheer them on.

Thank you to all who have given tirelessly to the local league this year and thanks to the Under 14 fella’s who stepped up and took on the big boys of the under 15s, we hope you will all come back next year and show them how it’s done again…..Cheers to you boys.

Our presentation day will be held on the 26th August, 2012 starting at 11am.  All Sponsors, Media Persons and of course junior Sharkies are welcome to come and have some fun on the day.
