Just in case you needed another reason to visit the Sugar Wharf, aside from its spectacular scenery, The Eye exhibition is it.

The exhibition, which opened on Monday, is drawing hundreds of visitors each day according to its curator and artist Michael Edwards, and it's easy to see why.

Featuring a number of distinct artistic styles from pop art to mosaic to jewellery and many others in between, Michael has invited Danielle Spira, Scott Jenner (who happen to also be his children) and Cynthia Spencer to display their eye-catching works.

"There's also some installation art which is not something you normally see in Port Douglas," Michael said.

"These are as much entertainment pieces as they are things you can buy and take away that are more for galleries and so on. It gives it a different dimension."

Keep your eyes open for Michael's 'Chillis' (his personal favourite), the optically intriguing 'Boxed In' and make sure you head to The Sea Room at the end of the Wharf for some fun pieces sure to capture your attention.

Michael said the Sugar Wharf is a premier venue for art exhibitions and should be used exclusively for that purpose.

"I think it should be used as an art gallery continuously, it's such a fabulous space. People have come in here and said 'this is spectacular.'"

The Eye Exhibition is open from 9am to 6.30pm daily and runs until 15 August, is free to enter, and works are available to purchase.

"It's something that shouldn't be missed. If you're looking for something different to do in Port Douglas, and you come here every year, you should come to this because it's a one off - you won't see it again."
