Peter Costello has shared with local businesses recommendations from the Queensland Commission of Audit’s first report at a breakfast in Cairns today.

Speaking in his role as chairman of the Commission, Mr Costello outlined its recommendations to the Queensland Government on strengthening the economy and improving the state’s financial position.

Representatives from Cairns’ economic and business organisations including Advance Cairns, Cairns Chamber of Commerce, TTNQ, Urban Development Industry Association, Chamber of Commerce and Industry Queensland, and James Cook University were in attendance.

Mr Costello is one of three independent Commissioners appointed by Premier Campbell Newman MP and the Treasurer and Minister for Trade Tim Nicholls MP. He is joined on the Commission by Dr Doug McTaggart and Professor Sandra Harding.
