Let’s Net Set Go

Douglas Junior Netball’s youngest players have completed six weeks of their ten week 'Net Set Go' program.

The Net Set Go program is an introduction to netball for players who are aged eight and under. The girls are taught the basic skills of netball concentrating on passing and footwork and to have fun whilst learning.

Each week the players are gaining netball skills in a safe and enjoyable environment with a different prize each week to take home with them.  At the end of the program the players have the opportunity to join a team in the 10/Under age group having learned all the necessary skills to start playing.

Special thanks go to Alison Richardson and Heather Orwin on their excellent coaching of Net Set Go.

Junior Marlins

The Junior Marlin trial was held in Mossman on 15 March. Marlin Coast President, Heather McLaren, selected players between 13 and 14 years old to join the Junior Marlin Squad.

The Squad will then attend training camps throughout the year to upskill in readiness to trial for the Marlin Academy in future years. Players nominated their two playing positions and were selected on these positions.

Douglas Netball is proud to announce the Junior Marlins for 2012 - Marley Cairns, Eleisha Mealing, Saisha Schonenberger, Jess Eagle-Rowe, Tayler Durie, Lauren Ryan and Rae Page.

The first training camp will be held on 15 April at the YMCA in Smithfield at 8.45am and training is compulsory.
