Jam for Tam

Jam for Tam
In February this year, 47 year-old Tamzin Laredo was diagnosed with having rare and aggressive secondary cancers in a number of organs.
Tamzin had no prior history with the disease, but so aggressive and widespread are the cancers that the primary cancer has not yet been identified.
She moved to Port Douglas with her husband Matthew Gorringe in 1997, and found their niches with Tamzin working at the Beach Club and Matt at the Sheraton Mirage.
Tamzin is much loved as a fellow employee and as a well known jazz singer and performer in Port. She has for many years hosted a regular radio show “Songs of the Heart” on Radio Port Douglas each
Saturday afternoon.
It is heartbreaking to Tam and Matt’s many friends and colleagues to see the couple, who have so freely and generously given their time and efforts to the music and general community since relocating to Port from New Zealand 15 years ago, now faced with a such a bleak cancer diagnosis.
The prognosis is dire - without urgent medical assistance, the fight ahead is steep and formidable, and the medical expenses beyond comprehension.
We, Matt and Tam’s friends call upon all her fellow musicians, friends, fellow employees and community to join with us in holding a fundraiser 'Jam for Tam' to help them endeavour to face this fight.
Port is a small place, and in times like these witnessing somebody like Tam’s hurt, it is a hurt shared by us all.
Come to the Central Hotel on Sunday 29 April at 2pm and join us in raising funds to assist Tam and Matt with the urgently needed medical treatment and to give back to such a gentle and loved couple.
Unsurprising for anybody who knows Tam, the theme is pink and green. Many businesses have donated prizes for auction on the day.
If you cannot make it but would like to donate please contact one of the people listed below who can provide you with the trust account that has been set up by her family for any such donations.
