Crocs' President report

Last Saturday saw the first of nine home games for 2012. What a fantastic day it was, perfect weather a great crowd, great food and drinks our first 200 Club for 2012 and a chance to showcase a host of new players at the Crocpit.

The Reserves scored a win with a brilliant fight back and the seniors were just too strong for the South Cairns Cutters.

The talk of the town is ex-South Australian Skip Gribbon who took some spectacular grabs some people claiming that the “Mark of the Year” has already been taken.

Many of our other new recruits demonstrated some very promising footy abilities heralding what appears to be a competitive year ahead for our team.

Once again accolades need to be given to the volunteers who worked tirelessly throughout the day both on and off the field. Many hands do make light work but unfortunately too few were available and consequently some people saw very little of the game.

Cheap, easy, and lasts longer. Check out The Newsport Classifieds.

If anyone would like to help out for a couple of quarters please see Andy or Rob. We need to staff the canteen get some more raffle sellers and need on field people to run water and assist the Trainers. Your help will be greatly appreciated.

A special mention needs to go to Cathy Nicholson who pretty much single-handedly looked after the players as the Trainer. She looked like she was the one who needed a rub down and ice bath by the end of the match.

This week we play the team to beat, the Saints at their home ground, so if you can get there our boys would certainly love your support.

Don’t forget that you are always welcome at Thursdays night’s meal at the club rooms. And the Goose Club every Friday night at our major sponsor the Courthouse Hotel. Tickets are available from 5.30pm and drawn about 7pm.
