Cairns more accessible to Japanese

TTNQ's Rob Giason said the commencement of Jetstar's domestic services will make Cairns more accessible.
TTNQ's Rob Giason said the commencement of Jetstar's domestic services will make Cairns more accessible.

Tickets on Jetstar's Japan domestic services for flights commencing in July went on sale yesterday and has been well received by the regional tourism body.

According to Tourism Tropical North Queensland CEO Rob Giason, the announcement allows Cairns to be better connected to more Japanese cities through Tokyo and Osaka.

“Jetstar is creating a network that will make travel to Cairns simpler and more affordable for Japanese visitors. It is opening up more markets and making connectivity between domestic and international sectors seamless," Mr Giason said.

Jetstar will offer fares that are reportedly around half the rate of full service airlines.

"There is a massive TV advertising campaign, and we can expect more demand for seats between Japan and Cairns as a result," Mr Giason said.
