Vipers home in classic Grand Final

10/Under

Douglas Junior Netball held its last games for the season on Tuesday and the afternoon started with the 10/Under Diamonds playing the Gladiators.

The Diamonds played well with great shooting by Alysha Hughes, strong defence by Jaime Thurtell, and Kalani Revel who has improved greatly this year put in some nice intercepts. Charlotte Dowling also lead well.

The Gladiators, who loaned some players to the Diamonds to make up the numbers put in a teriffic perfomance. Sophie Kirk and Sophee Watson made good use of the court and passed the ball well. Umpire Grace Walker was proud of the progess her team has made over the year.

Jasmine Kirk shot well for goal in windy conditions and Eva Mellows showed some great passing.  Young Keely Poole for the Gladiators, who came up from Net Set Go, has proven herself to be a fantastic up-and-coming netballer. We will see her featuring next year for her team.

Final score Diamonds 7 def. Gladiators 5.

The Saints played the Tigers, and the Saints played a great game with nice passing and court work by Jordan Scott. Keely Harold was in top form back from a broken finger and there was nice defence by Jay Heidke.

Kiara-Mae Gaddes lead and called well for the ball and there was nice play and pivoting by Stella Burnett.

The Tigers, in flash new hot pink bibs, put in a brilliant game. The team played well with the help of Robyn Bruenig, Savaanah Scott and Shannon Lincoln from the Panthers.  Logan and Lily Buzza both put in strong games.

Thanks to umpires Karlie Brady, Meg Goodall, Karla Logan and Natalie Littler.

Final score Tigers 3. def. Saints nil.

12/Under

The 12/Under Grand Final for Division A was played between Miallo and the Allstars. This game was always going to be a close one as both teams have played well throughout the year.

Miallo started well with fantastic defence by Saisha Schonenberger and Lily Wicks who has hit great form and intercepted well. Maddy Malone was great in centre for four quarters and Ellie Kadwell and Jade Schuck both shot well for goal in difficult conditions.

The Allstars were leading 5 goals to 3 at half time but team changes in the second half saw them lose their momentum. Liana Pelegrinet lead well and found space over the court. Mikeala Goodwin and Miceala Cairns were strong in defence and Rae Page played well in centre.

Eliza Markham and Rachael Goodwin shot some great goals and the whole team played well.

Final score Miallo 8 def. Allstars 6.  Great Game Miallo!

Division B was played on Court 2 between the Sparks and Panthers. The Sparks started strongly and looked great with their pink bibs.

Tiah McLean was again brilliant all over the court, Tayler Miller shot well for goal, and the whole team put in a top game with a very enthusiastic war cry.

The Panthers played well and had opportunities at goal. Shannon Lincoln put in a strong performance and Georgia Kelly was dominant in defence.

Final score Sparks 5 def. Panthers 2.

14/Under

The 14/Under Grand Final was played on Court 1 between the Dynamite and the Violet Vipers. The Vipers came out to play finals and put in a fantastic team performance.

Samaria Denman was again excellent in defence, Hayley Alexander was very good in Goal Keeper against some talented opposition, and Molly Delaney moved well through centre backed up by Tayler Durie.

Jeorgia Westgate was on fire shooting 13 goals in very windy conditions, Fantastic Game Jeorgia.

For the Dynamite, great work in defence by Eleisha Mealing, Emma Stievano put in some very handy intercepts and more brilliant defence by Yasmine Stievano took the game right up to the Vipers after their great start in the first quarter.

From half time the momentum switched with the Dynamite coming back strongly, but time defeated the team.

Final score Vipers 15 def. Dynamite 13.

Full credit to Jess Eagle-Rowe, the Vipers captain, who at 13 took over this team in a coaching and playing role, got them back to training and lead by example. A fantastic result for you Jess!
