Touch and go

by Adrian Bannerman

The first week of the NUBLU Pool and Spa Care Touch Footy, started on Monday night where around 90 male and female competitors comprising eight teams took to the fields.

In the first lot of games kicking off, we saw the Oldies take on Jimbos young guys. The younger guys ran out easy winners 7 - 1 and the burley boys Adam and James scoring 4 tries between them.

The Oldies look to hit back next week as their star recruit had work commitments and Simon James will now have his work cut out for him.

During the second game, we saw Teachers take down the high flying D.C's 8 - 2 with Keith Pitt scoring a double and some ring in scoring for D.C's.

See the D.C.'s match report below

The 7pm game saw the Raiders defeating the Quicksilver team 8 - 1 with Mick Prudent and Jake "the musk" scoring a try each.

The game of the round was Harts vs the Jr Sharks with a very high scoring enounter of 11 - 8. The Jr Sharks coming out as winners. The young Jr Sharks team was well served by Harry Cobb (2), Glenn and Tully getting amongst the tries.

It was good to see the old man Fitz getting a try in his first game back.

Cotton's mouth

by David Cotton

After a sterling first round performance DC’s Raine & Horne Wreckers probably find themselves on the bottom of the ladder, which is exactly where they expected to be at this stage of the competition.

They were slightly concerned when they found out that there was no ambulance on standby as rumour has it that a couple of the players got a special leave pass from Stella Maris.

Without the help of any walking aids and oxygen the whole team manage at least 10 minutes of game time. However we are not sure if Sam ”the fat man” Cullen included the half time break in his game time.

Just when they thought they were down and out along came their secret weapons Tuck & Harry, two of the fastest men in this bad old town.

As oxygen is in small supply at the oval we are still looking for a couple more recruits to help lift us off the bottom of the ladder.

After another gruelling selection process the team for next week is as follows, taking into account we didn’t really have anyone else to choose from.

David “Fine” Cotton
Travis “As fast as” Schumacher
Sam “Fat man” Cullen.
Marty “The major” Mous
Renae “Major General” Mous
Marty “I’m taller than my son” Tranter
Matthew “AFL” Churchill
Tyler “Captain” Mous
Simon ”Money Bags” Cody
