Sharks and Raiders go head to head

The second round of the NUBLU Pool and Spa Care touch footy was played on Monday with huge numbers attending.

With Quicksilver having their first win by a forfeit they still had a chance to hone their skills against a makeshift team put together in quick time.

But the second game of the night was game of the round with the Jr Sharks taking on their cross rival code the Raiders. Both teams showed great skill and length of the field tries courtesy of Chicka and Todd Funch making this one a game to be seen.

Half time saw a 6-6 scoreline and it could of have gone either way, but the Jr sharks were just to young and fit and ran out eventually winners 15 to 9 thanks to Zara Ryan scoring near the end.

The 7pm games saw the Oldies take on the teachers with Paul Ferrero getting across the line for the Oldies. But yet again Keith Pitt got his name on the score sheet as well as Steve Guthrie.

With the tries a plenty the Teachers ran away with the game winning 10 to 4.

The write up in last week's The Newsport Sport section by Dave "Fine" Cotton had the wrong the effect on his team. There was not much defence from his team in the game as the Mojo's put 17 tries on them. A new record I do believe so their for and against will be shot for the season I feel.

But there was some fine efforts from the DC boys by Fraser Cotton and Mark Flinn. There wasn't enough room to write all the try scores for Mojo's but I think Mick Hart was the only one didn't cross the white line.

Next week Round 3 kicks off Monday 26 September

DC'S vs Q/Silver
