Gymnasts spring into Julatten Fair
The Mossman & District Gymnastics Club put on an amazing, high energy performance at the Julatten Spring Fair last Saturday, September 10.
For the first time in club history, a group of enthusiastic boy and girl gymnasts made their way up the range, carting trailer loads of specialised gym equipment, in order to entertain the residents of Julatten and promote the club.
A warm invitation was extended for new members to come on down and join in the fun at the Mossman Indoor Sports Centre’s fully equipped gymnastics facility on weekday afternoons.
Sixteen year old Hayley Gwynne made an exceptional effort in organising the display and choreographing the routines for over 25 gymnasts from different Levels in the General Gym classes.
“The kids put in such a great effort,” Hayley said. “The routines involved a variety of skills, combining dance, floor work, vault and parallel bar sequences.
“A highlight of the performance was when some of our competition girls displayed their special routines, moving into a trampoline rotation where all gymnasts performed impressive dive rolls over varying heights.”
Visitors to the fair were in for a treat after the display, where they were given the opportunity to try out the parallel bars, floor mats, vault and trampoline for themselves.
The boy gymnasts especially enjoyed utilizing the new Folding Parallel Bars purchased especially for use at displays, thanks to a grant awarded by Cairns Regional Council earlier in the year.
New memberships are always welcome at the club. Term four is a great time to join up as the gymnasts get ready for their fun-filled end of year performance in November.
