Daintree Village walk opened

The Douglas Shire Historical Society has erected 10 historic photoposts in Daintree Village to mark the Daintree Historic Walk.

The posts were researched and written by members of the Historical Society and were financed through a successful grant application from the Queensland Government.

"A brochure has been printed to guide tourists on the walk and we hope that people will take time to stroll around the Village and learn more about its history," said president of the Douglas Shire Historical Society, Pam Willis Burden.

"The Historic Walks in Port Douglas and Mossman have been extremely popular and people now have the opportunity to continue on the Great Tropical Drive up to Daintree Village," she said.

The usual monthly Historical Society meeting will be held on 5 September in Daintree Village and afterwards the public is invited to join Historical Society members on the walk.

Those interested in taking the informative one hour stroll can meet at the Daintree Store at 3pm.
