Best Photo winner announced

A day out doing what he loves best has earned one local photographer a cool $100 cash and the coveted title of The Newsport's Best Photo Competition winner for August.

Brett Wright's 'Fone Hope' encapsulates the excitement and beauty of life on the water in a thrilling aerial shot that caught the judging panel's attention.

It caught the attention of readers too (or at least Brett's friends and family) who voted this pic the Most Popular for the month meaning he'll be trading his kite board for a Jungle Ball when he and a friend head to AME for more action.

Second prize went to Jascha Gusmeroli for his beautifully captured 'Falls in Miallo'. Jascha has won himself a stretched print on canvas from Image Bank Australia.  Jascha, a previous winner of the competition, is well known by Best Photo followers and we welcome him back into the fold after a short break.

Finally, Susanne Stannard has earned herself a lovely bottle of plonk for being selected in third place for her colourful 'Buff Breasted Paradise Kingfisher.'

Special mention goes to Richard Hopper who continues to deliver some incredibly creative shots. He can consider himself a little unlucky, as can a number of other avid photographers who continue to drive up the Stannard...sorry, standard, of the competition.

Did you agree with the judges decisions? Make sure you have your say on the Best Photo Competition page.
