Young cricketers show promise

Six Mossman State High School/Douglas Muddies cricketers recently attended the 14 and under Peninsula Cricket trials in Cairns with four moving on to representative duties.

Hayden D’Addona, Ethan McCullough, Kaiden Sorensen, David Coulthard, Ben Shrimpton and Glen Ives gave it their all at the trials, with David, Glen, Ben and Kaiden being selected to represent Peninsula at the State Championships to be held in Bundaberg from 26 November to 2 December.

Earlier this month a team of Douglas cluster primary school cricketers including Tom Goodall, Keel Sorensen, Daniel Davidson, Michael Ives, Nathan Deuble, Levi Trewick, Riley Sawyer, Hugo Walker, Tully Cartwright and Finn Cameron attended the 12 and under Peninsula cricket trials in Tolga over three days.

After playing three, 100 over matches the local Douglas team won two matches and lost one.  From these players Port Douglas primary school student Tom Goodall was selected to represent Peninsula at the State Championships to be held at the Gold Coast from 13 to 17 November.

Many of these Junior Muddies players are also attending Cricket Far North trials on Sundays for representative positions, with their age groups to play in the CFN State Championships in mid-December.
