Sharks taught a lesson by Teachers

The last round of the NuBlu Pool and Spa touch regular season was played on Monday night and with only one team assured of a final position the games were of finals qualilty.

The first game saw a battle for first spot on the table. The Jnr Sharks played strongly but ran out of legs and the Teachers ran away with it in the end.

The 9-3 scoreline didn't reflect the game at all for it was all Sharks in first 15 minutes running in their three tries.

But they couldn't maintain the speed of the game and it wasn't until the flood gates opened with about ten minutes to go that the game was lost.

Keith Pitt (2), Luke Hamilton (2), and Josh (3) all pick up extra tries to their tally for the Teachers.

The next game saw the battle of the wooden spoon (even thou DCs already had it).

The Oldies took down DCs with a scoreline of 9-3 which should have been much closer but it was Danielle Bellero that stole the show with three tries of her own which blew the score out to 6-2 at half time.

But it was defence that was the order for the next half as only four tries were scored. It was bitter pill for Mat "I've scored in every game' Churchill as he crossed the line twice only to be called back both times.

Simon Cody and Dazza crossed for DCs and Sam 'I ain't heavy' Cullen was unlucky not to get a point to his name. A couple of old guns, Steve Langton and Stussy, got over for the oldies.

The 7pm game saw a battle for fourth with Jimbos taking on the Raiders.

This game would see one team go up to play with the big boys and one team drop down and play the social side of the comp. In the end Jimbos advanced up the table and Raiders slid down.

The final score was 7-2 with Kerrod, Dazza, Jimbo and Dale Sparrey scoring for Jimbos and Andrew and Marty getting over for the Raiders.

Mojos and Quicksilver played out the last game of the night and it was one of the most evenly matched games played. It was end to end footy but neither side could put that final pass together to finish each other off.

The final score was 3-0 to Mojos but they had known that they were in a battle.  It was the old hard heads of Mojos getting over in Mick Hart and Fitzy.

Next Monday, 31 October, will see the finals kick off and some real nailbiters being played. The Teachers are favouirte at this stage but if Jimbos can produce and have all their players then they may be the ones to trouble the Teachers.

The Raiders are looking the ones to take out the bottom of the table comp but they need their players to get back out there and Quicksilver are the silent assassins and they have spent most year at the top. A few losses of late seem to have them slide down on due to for and against.

DCs look like playing Oldies for the wooden spoon and I think the D is alreay inked there.
