Under 10s

The Under 10s played brilliant team rugby on Friday Night at their home ground in Port Douglas. 

The lush grass on the cricket pitch was ideal for getting in and grabbing the ball and showing TAS what a great little united outfit these boys are. 

Nick Scomazzon in his first ever game of rugby, ran the ball, tackled and scored a try.  Caleb Ross and Jared Tesch were on fire fighting for possession and running the ball. 

All of the boys love playing union and you can see that in how they scramble for the ball, tackle and run the ball up.  Tries were also scored by Zeclen Grogan Ryan and Billy Kadwell. 

Final score was Raiders 15 defeated Tas 5. Well done boys.

Under 12s

The Under 12 Raiders continued their good form on Friday evening, thumping TAS 67-0 in their first home game of the season.

The hard work put in at training for the last five weeks by the team is a credit to them, and by sticking to the game plan, they are playing very strong rugby.

Tully Cartwright scored three tries in the first ten minutes off the back of some great ruck work from the rest of the forwards which set the tone for the rest of the game.

Jack O and Kalani went hard in the rucks, picking and driving well and Callum, Ayiesha and Angus were finding lots of gaps out wide for the backs.

Dean and Luke were nearly unstoppable and the whole team gained plenty of confidence from the win with all players getting plenty of game time. Well done!

Under 14s

In the Under 14s the boys managed to gather up 15 players to make team this week. After the first 10 minutes you could see the boys had never trained together and had their line crossed twice in this time.

Then suddenly they showed their true colours by knuckling down and showed great determination with fantastic defence. They held the opposition out for as long as possible until just before half time when they saw their line crossed again.

The half time chat seemed to add more inspiration as the forwards tight-end up produced some fantastic counter rucking which seemed to throw TAS’s game plan out.

After winning more ball the forwards were able to give the backs more of an opportunity to play their natural running game with two quick tries which startled TAS’s defence.

At the end, due to the lack of reserves the team was beaten by a fresher, stronger and better team on the night.

There is no reason why this team can’t beat TAS, it just needs a few more players, a little more training, and the same sort of courage that was shown last Friday night.
