Junior Muddies fall short

Under 12 Douglas Muddies, captained by Nathan Deuble, played their third match of the season against Mareeba Allstars at Borzi Park.

Mareeba last Saturday finishing in a close loss by the Muddies team.  Nathan won the toss and sent Mareeba in to bat first.

Reuben Allison took the first wicket of the match with a catch by Daniel Davidson.  Hugo Walker, assisted by Wicketkeeper Keel Sorensen, effected a great run out to remove the second batsman from the crease.

Best bowling figures were Levi Trewick 1/1 off 3 overs (of which 2 were maiden overs), Keel Sorensen 1 for 4 off 3 overs, and Hugo 1/15.  The opposition finished their 27 overs on 5/127.

The team’s newest Muddies players, Ashton Davenport and Raine Sorensen, have continued to improve every week showing fantastic bowling with their first overs only incurring one run against them.

Luke Twomey and Hugo Walker opened the batting with Luke caught out on 2 being replaced by Ryan Doble.  Hugo scored 11 runs until being caught out and Ryan retired to allow his other team mates to bat.

Raine Sorensen went in to bat with his brother Keel and showed good sportsmanship when he returned to the bench after being run out after only facing a few balls.

Keel Sorensen again played a great game top scoring on 16.  Nathan Deuble and Levi scored 9 each, Reuben 7, Nathan 6 and Ryan on 3.  Muddies were all out on the 27th over with 10/109.
