The halfway mark of the NuBlu Pool and Spa touch footy comp was reached on Monday night with a few upsets taking place, making the second half of the competition really exciting.

The first game of the night was Quicksilver taking on the Jnr Sharks.

Two very evenly matched sides took each other on and the outcome was 4-2 to Quicksilver. But the young Sharks, lead by Tully and Glenn, held there own against the older guys and showed some really sharp moves and passes to try and get their team over the line.

The Raiders kept their winning ways going by downing the ever-losing DCS  10-3 with some outstanding tries scored.

The Calcrafts scored three between them (some backyard practice going on is rumoured).

Todd Funch got a point and also a very suspect touch on one high-flying Mat "AFL" Churchill which was a turning point in the game.

"I don't see how he could've touched me," said Churchill. "I was metres ahead of him and pulling further away. It's an outrage."

But DCs looked to have some structure back with the return of Marty "I am smarter than a 5th grader, but not taller" Tranter.

One of the upsets was that the Oldies ran home 5 tries to 3 to upset Mojos.

After their high flying start with 17 try spanking of DCs, the team of Mojos have seem to have lost (pardon the pun) their mojo. But it was a family affair for the try scorers of the Oldies as Paul and Daniel Ferrero getting across the line.

The main game of the night saw Teachers take on Jimbos.

With only a try between them at the half and a fast pace set, a few Teachers' players slowed up, while some outstanding tries set and masterminded by the return of James Doolah of Jimbos.

The two tries scored by Shannon McCaffrey (two points for a lady try) saw Jimbos skip out to a four point lead which the Teachers couldn't reel back. At one stage it was only a point the difference with the Teachers getting a Dee across the line.

The final score for the game was 12 -6 to Jimbos with Keith Pitt getting a double for the Teachers.

There was a few different try scorers for Jimbos with James Burley, Dale Sparrey and James Doolah just to name a few.

With the competition on the downhill slope to the end of the season, some teams are improving with fitness and the skill is getting better each week. The last few weeks will see some teams strive to climb up the ladder.

After four rounds there are four teams all on nine points; Teachers, Raiders, Jnr Sharks and Quicksilver, with the only difference being for and against edging Quicksilver down to fourth.

The other four teams are down the bottom and not expected to trouble the top teams, except maybe Jimbos who sit on six points. If they turn up each week which they seem not to do, they can challenge.

Next in line at sixth is the hot and cold Mojos. These guys have taken out highest tries in one game but haven't shown the form we know they can.

Oldies sit in seventh which seems to be theirs as I can't see DCs coming off the goose egg for the year. They really need to improve as their for and against is terrible with 9 for and 42 against. They could crack the half century of tries but unfortuantely will be in the wrong column. They seem to be struggling without their leader Dave "serial pest" Cotton.
