Celebrate the Melbourne Cup in pink!
A charity Melbourne Cup luncheon will be held at the Port Douglas Surf Club on Tuesday November 1, to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer in Queensland.
The Pink Ribbon Day Melbourne Cup luncheon will raise vital funds for Cancer Council Queensland’s work in breast cancer research and support for patients and families.
The Mossman Port Douglas Volunteer Branch of Cancer Council Queensland will host the luncheon on Melbourne Cup day and all locals are welcome to attend.
Secretary of the Mossman Port Douglas Volunteer Branch, Raelene McDonald, is co-ordinating the Pink Ribbon Day Melbourne Cup luncheon and says will be a wonderful way to enjoy ‘the race that stops the nation’.
“We have planned a lovely Melbourne Cup luncheon to support Pink Ribbon Day with Fashions in the Field, Calcutta and sweeps, lots of lucky door prizes and raffles and of course, big screens to watch the race ,” she said.
Funds raised from Pink Ribbon Day will help Cancer Council Queensland in many ways.
“By getting involved you are showing your support for the thousands of grandmothers, mothers, sisters, aunts, daughters and friends diagnosed with breast cancer each year,” Ms McDonald said.
The Mossman Port Douglas Volunteer Branch’s Pink Ribbon Day Melbourne Cup luncheon will be held at the Port Douglas Surf Club Bistro on Tuesday November 1 from 11am with lunch being served at 12pm.
Tickets cost $50 and can be purchased by calling the Port Douglas Surf Club Bistro on 4099 4335.
