Best Photo Comp bigger and better

In what has been one of the most hotly debated decisions in The Newsport's Best Photo Competition's history, a winner has been declared for September.

In the end it was Annette Brown's eerie 'Sunrise over Lake Tinaroo' which took out the $100 cash first prize, just pipping Susanne Stannard's exquisite 'Male Sunbird.'

Of course, Susanne will not go unrewarded. For her troubles, Susanne can have her shot immortalised on a stretched canvas (400mm x 300mm) valued at $75 thanks to Perrin at Image Bank Australia.

'Sunrise reflections', a magnificent photo by Ruth Ross, will not only take out third prize - a lovely bottle of wine to enjoy at her next sunrise (or perhaps sunset is more appropriate) - but also the Most Popular photo earning her a voucher for two people to take a ride on Daintree Station's (AME) Jungle Ball.

Thanks to everyone who commented on this month's short list and well done to the winners who can arrange collection of their prizes by call Mat at The Newsport on 07 4099 5122.

THE BEST PHOTO COMPETITION HAS JUST GOT BIGGER

Garricks Camera House has teamed up with The Newsport's Best Photo Competition to bring you the biggest monthly prize to date.

From October, Garricks Camera House will be supporting the competition by increasing the first prize to a $100 voucher PLUS $50 in cash. That's $150 in value every month to the winner.

Second and third prizes will remain the same - the Image Bank's stretched canvas and bottle of wine - the Most Popular Photo winners will continue to be rolled down a steep hill in a giant ball thanks to Daintree Station.

Thanks go to these supporters, and especially to the photographers who have a regular forum to display their brilliant images.

Keep 'em coming!
