Barbour, Dowell star at Mossman

Men’s Pennants kick off this week with the boys travelling to Atherton on Sunday to take on the Southern Districts side.

Earlier last week the Tuesday men played a Par event. Simon Nelson won with +6 after a count back to R White. John Cameron was third with +5. Nearest the pins were won by Mal Phillips on 6, Wayne Dowell on 8, Peter Lewis on 10, Leon Baker on 13 and George Humphries on 17.

Peter Titus-Rees won the nine hole sporters competition last week with 23 points after a count back to Jeff Bochow. Adam Ferguson was third with 22 points. Nearest the pins went to Helen Gabour on 6 and Bev Cowe on 8.

The Thursday ladies played a Stableford competition last week which was won by Ellen Clark with 41 points. Lyn Heimann finished on second place with 39 points and Kerri Williams was third with 38 points. Ellen won nearest the pins on 6 and 10, Shirley Carney on 8 and Wendy Mead on 13.

It was monthly medal time over the weekend as we snuck into October. Wayne Dowell was the best of the men with a nett 66 to win by four shots to John Petherbridge.

Charlie Kadic won the A Grade gross, Wayne Dowell won B Grade and Joe Wild won C Grade. Ian Prewett won the A Grade nett with 73, Petherbridge won B Grade with 70 and Bill Allison won C Grade with 71. Nearest the pins were Kym Rowley on 6, 10 and 17, John Petherbridge on 8 and Ricky White on 13.

Shona Barbour won the ladies monthly medal with nett 72 after a count back to Kym Edwards and Lyn Heimann. A Lovell won nearest the pin on 6, Glenda Christensen on 8, Trish Landy on 10, Shona Barbour on 13 and Heather Atkins on 17.
