Winning gymnasts set to shine

Two of the Mossman gym club’s youngest aspiring gymnasts made the effort to attend their last invitational competition for the year in Townsville recently.

Tali Hoye and Della Miller both competed in the Level 2, Under 8s group, mingling with 299 fellow gymnasts from 13 clubs at the state-of-the-art Townsville facility.

The girls were in fine form with Della Miller bringing home first place medals for Vault and Beam, and second place for Floor, with her overall  placement being eighth.

Tali Hoye achieved consistently high results, winning fourth in both Vault and Floor, and fifth in Bars, with an overall placement of sixth.

This was an excellent combined result, as they were competing against 20 girls in their group. One of the club's newly accredited coaches, Hayley Gwynne, also travelled to Townsville to judge the Level 2 Floor routines.

Their support coach, Deanne Hoye, was pleased with the girls' efforts.

“The girls performed to a very high standard, exceeding expectations.

“Our youngest coach, Hayley, has also been a valuable asset to the club and will be sadly missed when she leaves to further her education.”

Della and Tali will both be showcasing their talents at the Mossman and District Gymnastics Club’s Christmas Display and Presentation Night at 6pm on November 25, at the Mossman Indoor Sports Centre.

Gymnasts have been busy preparing for the extravaganza which will feature all their skills, honed throughout the year. The community is encouraged to attend this annual event, with the chance to see the amazing talent of our local kids.

Julia Leu has been invited to help with the presentations, and a raffle and sausage sizzle will be available on the night.
