A 100 run partnership got the Muddies over the line.
A 100 run partnership got the Muddies over the line.

The Under 16 Muddies team finished their second day of a two day match against Innisfail played at Griffiths Park with a fantastic win achieved through the great efforts of every member of the team.

On the previous Saturday, Innisfail batted first and at the end of 32 overs were 7/82.  Wicket takers for Muddies were Ethan McCullough (3/11), Adon Trewick (2/6), Nathan Evans (1/12) and Ashley Davidson (1/12).

The Muddies then went in to bat and lost some early wickets but with some steady batting by Hayden D’Addona (42), and Ashley Davidson (17), they finished their 32 overs on 8/81.

On the second Saturday of the match, Innisfail continued their batting and with some quick wicket taking by David Coulthard (2/14) and Kaiden Sorensen (1/4), and a great run out by Ethan, ceased Innisfail’s first innings all out for 94.

The Muddies returned to the crease with only three wickets in hand and needing 14 runs to win the match.

After four overs, two more wickets were lost to the Muddies with no additional runs scored.  This left the final two batsmen, Kaiden Sorensen and Tom Goodall, to get them over the line.

Kaiden and Tom faced everything Innisfail threw at them and formed a steadfast batting partnership for the rest of the 32 overs achieving an amazing 100 runs between them with Kaiden finishing on 45 not out and Tom 47 not out.

The Muddies' final winning score was 10/181.
