Raiders triumph

Port Junior Raiders travelled to Mann Street on Friday night to take on TAS Kewarra.

The Under 10s took on some big boys and showed them how to play. The game was brilliantly refereed by young David Sands and the boys rose to the good refereeing.

Leith Malone And BJ Davis put in some fantastic kicks, Joe Tusa played well with some good runs and standovers, Kalepo put in a huge tackle, Zeclen did some superb wrestling moves and Derrick Letcher was pumped and running all over them.

All the boys put in a huge effort and it shows in their discipline and organisation on the field.  Try scorers this week were Tom Walker and BJ Davis.

Raiders 10 TAS Kewarra 0.

The Under 12 Raiders faced a very big Wanderers outfit, and it turned out to be a very tough game producing some awesome defence and skilfull attack that showed why the team remains unbeaten after three rounds.

Although the final score was 51 – 7, the Raiders had to work extremely hard to keep control of the game.

Right from the kick off the Wanderers forwards charged into the defence trying to go over the top of the Raiders, but after some crunching tackles from Luke Pellegrinet, Kalani Tusa and Charlie Burns they decided to run a bit wider which forced them to start dropping the ball.

The Raiders made the most every opportunity and once they put some points on the board they never looked back.

Tries were scored all over the park with the backline moving the ball around freely thanks to good service from Zac and Callum.

Dean and Angus were outstanding and in the forwards Eddy Todd, Aaron Dunwell, Matty Chesterfeild and Charlee Mac all had their best games so far.

The team's performance is a result of the hard work put in at training each week and great attitude by all the players.

The highlight of the night was when Ayesha Seaton smashed one of the biggest Wanderers players in a crucial one-on-one tackle and saved a certain try.
