New members appointed to TQ board

Tourism, Manufacturing and Small Business Minister Jan Jarratt has announced two new members will be appointed to the Tourism Queensland board.

Ms Jarratt said the two new Tourism Queensland Board appointments are Adam Bram from the Whitsundays and Brisbane’s Danielle Duell from the Spicers accommodation group.

“As the General Manager of Cumberland Charter Yachts, Adrian has an acute understanding of the needs of regional tourism operators and has a long history of working with government,” Ms Jarratt said.

“He is Vice Chairman of Tourism Whitsundays, has served as Vice Chairman of Backpacking Queensland and worked at the West Australian Tourism Commission.

“Danielle Duell has outstanding experience in tourism, marketing and business.

“She has worked as Chief Executive and Co-founder of Riverlife Adventure Tours and consultant for the Story Bridge Adventure Climb and XXXX Ale House Brewery Tours.”

Ms Jarratt said the board would continue to take an aggressive approach in light of global challenges and the skills of these two new board members will complement the current board.

“Brisbane Airport’s CEO, Julieanne Alroe, will serve as the board’s Deputy Chairperson, bringing with her an invaluable understanding of Australia’s airline industry after spending 30 years in management at Sydney Airport.

"The board, through Chair Don Morris, has been tasked to look towards our 2020 goals to ensure that we can deliver for our strong, vibrant tourism industry.”

Returning board members include Don Morris AO (Chair), Mr Tony Baker, Ms Pamela Hardgrave, Mr Peter Savoff, Mr Grant Cassidy and Dr Peter Lynch, who have each been reappointed for a further 12-month term.

Ms Jarratt thanked retiring TQ Board members, Shane O’Reilly and Julie McGlone, for their dedication to serving the tourism industry over a number of years.

There will be further renewal of the board in 2012.
