Finals time in touch

The business end of the Nublu Pool and Spa Care touch competiton happened on Monday night with some excellent games played, but yet some poor showing from some teams.

The Raiders won on forfiet by DCs not turning up (maybe the finals pressure had them worried) and Raiders advance to the final next week.

But the Junior Sharks had called in some big game players with Adam 'Fatman' McDonald and Fitzy playing for them to see if they could take down the pace of Jimbos.

Jimbos, however, were dominant running out winners 12 - 1.  Jimbos' try scorers were Doolah, Butters, Dallas, Daniel (2) and their only girl, Shannon, also got over the line. But it was Paddy's try that was a highlight of the game and nearly try of the year.

Next it was Quicksilver and the Oldies to do battle, and with both sides undermanned they brought in extra help from the first game. It wasn't enough for Quicksilver who had only six guys to get over the Oldies.

The final score was a blow out 13-1, but there was some very exciting touch.

Teachers came back from a 3-2 half time scoreline to run out winners 5-3 over Mojos. Mojos took the field in the second half confident of winning, but a wayward pass fell right for the Teachers seeing them score and get the momentum they needed to head into the final agaist Jimbos.

The Teachers then scored through their girl in Dee and put the game out of reach for Mojos. To their credit Mojos tried right to the end and it would have been a fast and furious finish if it wasn't for Josh who popped up with a try saving touch with five minutes to go.

So next week will be the last week of the season with hopefully every team bringing all their players and more to watch the grand final.

First up will be DCs playing Quicksilver. This will the last chance for DCs to win a game this year.

Next will be Mojos playing the Junior Sharks and if Mojos bring their game from last week it could see the Sharks lose four on the trot.

At 7pm the Raiders (hopefully with more than five players) fave the Oldies who are gelling quite nicely and could be a great contest.

But the main game, the one I'm interested in, is the Jimbos and Teachers game. If the Teachers give up early tries against Jimbos they will be hard to peg back. On the other foot if Jimbos turn up with one girl short they could be left pondering what could have been if they had a full side.

Only time will tell the full story.
