EXCLUSIVE: MKR at Port Douglas marina

It was chaos at the Meridien Marina on Monday as filming of the second hit TV series at the marina in as many weeks came and went in the blink of an eye.

Two weeks ago, long-time Aussie soap, Neighbours, was being shot at the marina in pouring rain, but on Monday, tourists were stunned to see contestants of the upcoming Channel 7 series, My Kitchen Rules, sprinting past them with seafood in hand.

As part of a cooking challenge, teams visited the Bianca Fishing Charters vessel, moored at the marina, to purchase various types of prawns.

They then scrambled past onlookers to dash up the boardwalk to their awaiting Apollo campervans and escape to the next stage of their challenge, chased by producers and cameramen.

But there was nearly a spill, as two of the campervans almost collided with each other on Wharf Street, trying to reverse in hasty retreat.

“We can't reveal too many details about filming just yet but it will be a wonderful opportunity for us to showcase Queensland and everything it has to offer as a food and tourist destination," Executive Producer, Rikkie Proost, told The Newsport.

"Our judges, Pete Evans and Manu Feildel, along with the crew and contestants, are looking forward to making their way across the Sunshine State.

“My Kitchen Rules is a home-grown show and we are committed to celebrating Australia’s diversity.

"All will be revealed when series three premieres on Channel 7 in early 2012.”

Hopefully the upcoming series will be just as entertaining as Monday’s dramas….and sumptuously seafoody.
