Treat your Mum this Sunday

This Sunday the mothers of Australia once again quite justifiably get the recognition they deserve as burnt toast in bed is delivered with a smile, the showering of gifts from family and maybe a lunch at Mum's favourite restaurant.

Here's a hint: KFC is not your Mum's favourite restaurant and a $100 KFC gift voucher could perhaps be saved for Father's Day.

Port Douglas is a place full of people from somewhere else having made the move to the tropics, meaning many Mum's will be receiving a phone call from thousands of kilometres away this Sunday.  But that call will be as good as a hug to your long distance Mum believe me!

But as the years pass there are a growing number of families who call Port home, so here are a few ideas for those, like me, who are leaving their Mum's present shopping 'til the last minute:

  • Breakfast on Four Mile Beach
  • Jewellery for those who badly need the points
  • Flowers and chocolate - you can't go wrong
  • A day to herself - appreciated and affordable!
  • Massage from one of Port's many superb spas.
  • A sunset cruise or stroll along the beach
  • A movie starring any of the Ocean's 11 cast (it's only 90 minutes of your life)
  • An item from the Victoria's Secret catalogue (best to buy this for your partner, not your Mum)
  • Making sure the whole family is together, that’s usually all Mums want!

Use your imagination and you'll come up with dozens of brilliant ideas that are available right here in Port Douglas. But you'd better be quick, Mother's Day is racing towards you this coming Sunday.
