Tourism hits the road

Tourism Port Douglas and Daintree boss, Doug Ryan, has left for a 'Queensland on Tour' tourism roadshow which is covering Victoria, NSW and Queensland as part of Tourism Queensland's recovery strategy.

Around 200 operators from around the State will head to Brisbane where they will undertake consumer, media, and agent events before departing to Melbourne for similar events.

Regional centres such as Geelong and Albury Wodonga will be part of the roadshow before the crew are bused to the nation's capital and on to Sydney to attend the Caravan and Camping Show.

In other tourism news, New Zealand radio personalities 'Fletch and Vaughan' were in Port Douglas on Thursday taking in the local sites including the Daintree Station and Jungle Surfing, before heading on a 'cocktail crawl' along Macrossan Street with Doug Ryan.

The popular duo are here as part of a 'Pick our path adventure'in which listeners choose the activities they'll be doing.

"They're like the Hamish and Andy of New Zealand," Mr Ryan said on Thursday. "We're doing five different places...they've got half an hour in each spot and they're going to interview people and have a bit of fun before ending up at Muso's Night at the Central."
