Top of the table Crocs clash

by Scott Ewert
President, Port Douglas Crocs

The Crocs have a top of the table clash this Saturday at home againts Manunda Hawks and the boys are looking to redeem themselves after the previous encounter when the Hawks triumphed by 65 points.

Coach Andy Viola believes we have improved enough to close the gap on the ladder leaders. 6ft 2, 19 year-old David Kruse from Darwin played his first game last week when we defeated South Cairns and will no doubt be better for the run.

But great news for the club is the return of Matt and Craig Shaw, and Daniel Fisher to training this week. It may take a week or two for the boys to resume their football careers, but these additions to the playing list have put the club in a position that all involved are really happy about.

The Reserves, coached by Darren Wall, are still undefeated although we have had a couple of unfortunate draws. One game was called off due to the state of the ground, and in the other against Cairns Saints we had 19 men on the ground after being 8 goals in front. The score was reduced to zero and we fought our way back.

On Saturday the Reserves start at 1pm while the Seniors start at 3pm. It would be great to see you all at the Croc Pit.
