What a round of AFL!  Could our eyebrows have been raised anymore?  In a nutshell Round 9 featured Geelong staying 100% on the wins column; Brissy notching their first win; the Tigers somehow dismantling Hirdy’s exceptional perfect coaching career; West Coast opening up a massive can of whoop ass on Rodney Eades Doggies; Collingwood taking 3 quarters to wake up – then applying their dominance.

To continue we had Hawthorn looking dangerous again; Carlton are possibly the real deal; St Kilda might slowly climb back; Dean Bailey might get the chop before Vossy; Port Adelaide have as many wins as their supporters have teeth, and Brisbane won their first game - so nice I had to say it twice!!

Let’s break it down – the top 8 will not now change much. The Pies, Cats, Hawks, Bombers, Blues & both teams from the West (yes both!) will definitely feature in September. 

Sydney now take up the final spot & they look a tad vulnerable. Could the Tigers sneak in there? Maybe! 

Once again we must give credit where credit is due & Damian Hardwick is slowly getting it done! Similar to the Scott brothers he was a no nonsense fearless hard defender & these guys tend to make good coaches.

As long as someone beats Collingwood I’ll be happy but they looked awesome when told to turn it on. Damn!

In basketball action the Cairns Taipans have lost the nucleus of last season to opposition clubs. The down side of success is that the vultures start to circle & the Melbourne Tigers have swooped on Ubaka, Dorsey & Dillon.  Good for them but harsh on the cash strapped Snakes. 

I’m not surprised but I am disappointed – they could have given us one more year! Fearne & Beecroft almost pulled one out of the bag this season gone so maybe they have something else up their sleeves.

Being able to spend only 75% of the salary cap must severely suck! 

Dusty Rychardt has re-signed with the club however which is a good thing.
