Moonlight Cinema coming soon
The launch of Moonlight Cinema’s first regional open-air cinema experience from the lawns of Rydges Sabaya Resort in Port Douglas is approaching fast. Moonlight Cinema will screen new release, classic and cult films and will no doubt be embraced by locals who don't want to make the journey to Cairns.
Moonlight Cinema’s Event Director Simon Bogle said this is the first time Moonlight has left the city limits behind, branching out beyond its metropolitan heartlands of Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth.
“We are looking forward to screening all the latest and greatest movies in Port Douglas during what is traditionally our off season in the southern capitals.”
The Sabaya Resort cinema lawn will hold a maximum of 300 people and will offer on-site food and beverage facilities.
“Moonlight Cinema’s Port Douglas film program will be a mix of new release, 3D, classic and cult films, with an emphasis on new and recent release titles and family films during school holidays,” said Mr Bogle
The CEO of Tourism Port Douglas and Daintree, Doug Ryan says Moonlight Cinema is a boon to Port Douglas and its overall visitor experience.
“While our list of day time activities is expansive, the evenings are often limited to dining out. What Moonlight Cinema offers is another great option for families who can enjoy the magic of outdoor cinema under a tropical, starlit sky,” he said.
The inaugural season runs from 1 July to 2 October with screenings four nights a week, Thursday to Sunday. Gates will open at 6.30pm with screenings around 7.30pm.
Tickets are priced from $12 for children and $16 for adults. There is a wide range of ticket options available and food, beverage and movie packages will also be promoted. Premium seating will also be available.
